Grim Review #4: "Get Out Of My Head!"
Howdy
folks. Turtle here again with another Grim Review. This time we're
dealing with body possession. The episode is entitled “Get Out of
My Head”. Let's get to it.
Title card from the Grim Adventures Wiki
The
episode opens on a B-Horror flick on TV. A young woman is possessed
by a....mummy's ghost....and proceeds to eat someone off-screen.
Billy is freaked out by this and turns off the TV. Grim is hardly
phased by it.

“I've
seen scarier stuff in your toilet.”
Well
cheesy B-movies are pretty easy to top on the scare-o-meter.
Billy
inquires about “jumping into people's heads”. Grim demonstrates
possession on Billy's cat, Milkshakes. Billy attempts to do the same
to his dad, but fails. It only works if you jump in head first, not
butt first.
Mandy
is outside messing with what appears to be a voodoo doll. Billy dives
headfirst into Mandy and takes over her body. Billy does various
things in Mandy's body: messes with Grim, flirts with Irwin, bothers
Mandy's parents, etc.
It
looks like Mandy's parents are about to bang on the couch when Billy
runs in.
There
is a short montage of Billy messing around as Mandy, until Billy is
forced out. Enraged, Mandy forces Billy to leave.
You
done messed up, Billy.
Later,
Billy is speaking apologetically about the events to his cat
Milkshakes. As it turns out, Mandy has possessed Milkshakes and
attacks Billy to end the episode.
There
wasn't a lot to this one. This was the first appearance of Irwin, but
he's more of a random dude at this point. The montage could've been a
bit shorter, but the overall 7 minute episode length made this story
bearable, despite the massive amount of Billy being an idiot.
The
highlight of the episode was the B-movie opening. The bad acting, the
effects, all of it works. Billy being legitimately afraid was the
cherry on top. There's also the bit between Billy and his dad where
Billy is trying to jump into his head, which is amusing. There's a
small moment where Grim is watching TV and one character says “I'm
pregnant” to which another replies “That's the third time this
week”. It's funny in a “What does that even mean?” sort of way.
A
lot of things in this episode work. The comedy is good and the length
is just right for this story. The story gets told without being too
over-saturated with Billy. Sure, Billy is annoying for about 2
minutes, but Mandy getting revenge as Milkshakes is quite the payoff.
“Get
Out of My Head!” gets a Good
rating.
