FOP Review #6: "Dog's Day Afternoon"
Hey
folks. Turtle here with another FOP review. Today, Timmy switched
places with a dog for the perks. But all is not what it seems. Let's
dive into “Dog's Day Afternoon”.
Title card from the Fairly Oddparents Wiki
Our
story begins with Timmy's mom and dad leaving for a night out. It
appears that Vicky is praising Timmy.
Did
we wind up in some bizarre parallel dimension?
It
turns out it's her dog Doidle she's praising.
Timmy
complains about Doidle being over again.
“She
sure does love that dog more than she loves you.”
“She
loves everything more than Timmy.”
Including
hemorrhoids, the year 2016, and the Star Wars Christmas Special.
Vicky
makes Timmy do stuff for the dog. Doidle is also given a steak for
dinner while Timmy has to much on the plastic tray of a TV dinner.
With
those teeth, he should be able to break through it pretty easily.
Timmy
complains about being second banana to a dog.
That's
probably how Mystery Inc. feels sometimes.
Timmy
gushes about how cool it must be to be a dog.
“Dogs
have a better sense of smell, and they can see in black and white,
and they can go to the bathroom anywhere they want.”
“So
can I, I'm just polite!”
Note
to self, don't let Cosmo near the punch bowl.
Timmy
switches places with Doidle. Human Doidle goes to bed and Dog Timmy
throws insults at Vicky under the guise of dog noises. Dog Timmy
proceeds to eat his own homework.
I
wonder if kids still use that excuse. Or there's probably one
involving fidget spinners or avocado toast I'm not aware of.
Dog
Timmy binges on ice cream while watching TV. Vicky explains that
tomorrow is Doidle's “special day”: the day he gets fixed.
Dog
Timmy is upset, unsurprisingly. He goes to tell Cosmo and Wanda, but
they don't understand him.
You
should've seen that coming, Timmy.
The
Turner parents return home and Vicky takes Dog Timmy. Cosmo and Wanda
decide to split up to look after both Dog Timmy and Human Doidle.
At
Vicky's house, Dog Timmy is introduced to Vicky's other pets, all of
whom have been fixed. Cosmo shows up as a flea, and camps out on Dog
Timmy's butt.
Cosmo
is missing Wanda dearly, while Wanda writes a romance novel
overnight.
I
wish I had Wanda's initiative to take on large writing projects.
Morning
hits and Human Doidle goes downstairs. Doidle eats the cereal as if
it's his dog bowl, and Dad follows suit.
“I'm
hip.”
Don't
forget to dab, Mr Turner. Then you'll be really hip.
Human
Doidle goes to chase the school bus and Dad drinks his coffee face
first to be hip.
From Fairly Oddparents Wiki
I'll
say this right now: Timmy's Dad is my favorite character.
Doidle
winds up at school and sniffs AJ's butt.
And
that's when Timmy was charged with sexual harassment.
Anyway,
Human Doidle runs into the bathroom and drinks from the toilet.
Chester tells Francis that Timmy is tougher than he is, and Francis
drinks out of the toilet to prove himself.
I
hope those toilet bowls were empty.
Outside,
Wanda is with her friends as their godkids have also swapped places
with animals. One of the friends comments that their kid switched
places with a frog, and upon realizing that the girl might be
dissected, rushes to her aid.
During
recess, Human Doidle chases a ball away from the school.
Hopefully
you don't run into Truant Officer Shallowgrave.
Meanwhile
at the vet, Vicky takes Dog Timmy in to see Dr. Snipowitz.
I
suppose it's more TV-Y7 than Dr. Cutmaballs.
Also,
we've gotten a lot of Dee Bradley Baker in this episode.
Cosmo
finally figures out what's going on and Dog Timmy escapes.
Conveniently enough, Human Doidle is chasing the baseball down that
very street. Dog Timmy follows him into the park.
Dog
Timmy urges Human Doidle to wish everything back to normal, but
Doidle refuses. Doidle likes being a person.
So
due to Timmy only speaking dog, and Doidle being in Timmy's body,
Doidle has to make the wish to swap bodies again? This was a
terrible idea.
Timmy
and Doidle fight for a while as Cosmo becomes jealous over the amount
of attention Timmy is getting. Yeah Cosmo is clingy in this episode
for some reason.
Wanda
turns into a poodle. Human Doidle falls head over heels for her, but
gets rejected for being a human.
Remember
kids, bestiality is illegal.
Doidle
wishes he was a dog again, and Timmy's brain goes back to his own
head. Vicky finds them and takes Doidle to get fixed.
Later,
Timmy and the now fixed Doidle are watching TV. Vicky brings in her
hamster and gives him a steak. Timmy thinks about telling him he's
probably getting fixed, but decides not to.
“He
can find out on his own.”
Wow
Timmy's a dick.
This
is the first in a long line of really dumb wishes. Timmy couldn't
wish himself back to normal because he lost the ability to speak a
human language. Doidle didn't really have a good reason to change
back and only did because of his libido. Timmy might've been a dog
forever if not for Doidle chasing a ball across town. Cosmo being a
clingy is kind of annoying too.
I
have to give “Dog's Day Afternoon” a Bad
rating.
